Current testing on the Ningxia Red® reports that our ORAC is 1,500 per fluid ounce. As each bottle of NINGXIA RED® contains 34 ounces or 1 liter, this would give the full bottle an ORAC score of 51,000.

The SOD (S-ORAC) of NINGXIA RED® rated 12,300 per liter. The H-ORAC for NINGXIA RED® is 549 per liter and the N-ORAC is 489 per liter.

The difference in the scales is as follows: S-ORAC (Superoxide Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) measures the ability of a substance to absorb the superoxide radical. S-ORAC is important because superoxide is the precursor to hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl and peroxynitrite radicals.

N-ORAC (Peroxynitrite Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) measures the ability of a substance to absorb peroxynitrite radical.

H-ORAC (Hydroxyl Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) measures the ability of a substance to absorb the hydroxyl radical.

ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) measures the ability of a substance to absorb, or quench, the peroxyl radical, one of the most important reactive oxygen species in the human body. ORAC has become a popular unit of measure for the antioxidant capacity of nutritionalproducts.
